Voice Search Optimisation
Over recent years, website owns have placed a lot of time, money, and effort into ensuring that their websites perform well in search engine rankings. With Algorithms constantly changing, this has always been an uphill struggle and now – we have a new kid on the block!
What is Voice Search?
With the increase in voice activated devices (Alexa, Cortana, Siri and Google assistant etc) – voice searches are now becoming more and more popular. Speaking to such a device (even your mobile phone) can bring a search result in seconds!! – Impressive but…. It does have a draw back for your current business website!
What happened to Google Listing?
In days gone by, we could enter a search term into a major search engine and be presented with a list of items that met that search criteria.
For example, I search “Taxis Nearby” and I would have page of various taxis businesses within my local region displayed before me. With voice Search, the same search “Taxis Nearby” would bring a single audible result back which is GREAT if its your business but……. NOT GREAT for all the other taxi companies who would also have been seen in a listing.
So what does this mean for business in the future?.
Basically, additional optimisation to your website. Google defines Voice Search optimisation as: –
“Voice SEO is the optimisation of keywords and keyword phrases for searches using voice assistants. According to some SEO experts, voice SEO is required for websites to effectively show up in results for searches conducted through voice assistants”.
